I was thinking, though...does this one really make sense to anyone else? I mean...is this supposed to be a video tape of the shed scene that was released from the FBI years later or something? How could this continue from here? Does the whole story pan out on FBI tapes? IDK?!

It kind of takes the story WAY out of place, IMHO. It's definitely creative. Don't get me wrong, I think you guys did a great job...the cut scenes and how you laid the whole thing out was very interesting, but it is confusing to me how this could fit into the story. Just my .02 cents.

i totally agree with looch on this one. i absolutely love the whole cloverfield idea, and I think you handled it quite well (and i also think this is a stronger submission than your last one, so good job!). however, i'm not quite sure how it would fit into the overall scheme of things, so i'm a bit hesitant towards this one.

I like that the story twists and turns, and how Santa is reintroduced. I see a lot of creative possibilities in future clips utilizing this style, and sensibly leaving it if necessary.

I think these guys really have a talent and could do really well, but I'm not feeling it with this one. It's just a little hard to follow for me.

Hands down, this entry is much, MUCH stronger! You guys pulled off the Cloverfield style well; the reintroduction of Santa was unexpected and funny! I actually like the idea of his reappearance a lot, because he's quite forgettable after that split second in Chapter 2.

I am a little confused by where the story is starting and where Chapter 5 would begin. I suppose teams get a choice on Chapter 5, whether to continue following the flashback, or to return to the "present" (or shall we say, "less passed past") and follow the other video Scott recorded of himself after the Santa incident took place. It's not overly tricky, but does divert from the narrative flavor of the past entries. Not that shaking things up is always a bad thing. ;)

Thank you for all the compliments, it means a lot to me and my actors. I do hold Cloverfield close to my heart but that's not actually what inspired me. I have always been a big fan of ' The Blair Witch Project' It blew my mind as a child and it has always stuck with me

Please allow me to explain about chapter three; we only had access to the set one day before the clips were due. Immediatly after filming I went to my night job and then only had a few hours to edit the next morning before noon. Now DON"T get me wrong, I'm not complaining; just explaining.

Root Clip screwed me over a little bit; if you notice there is no summer of my clip underneath the video. The summery explained why the FBI had all this video. I have retyped it below, I hope it makes more sense now. DARN YOU ROOTCLIP!!

eh, you still got like 3 and a half days left dude, don't fret it. you guys have been keeping close to each others numbers all day, and i have a feeling that if they had the votes to get a huge lead, then they'd probably already have it. they probably wasted all their publicity powers on chapter 3!

I just can't justify putting so much time and energy into something, when I can't compete with the "marketing".

JTthe1, leaps and bounds indeed! I really hope next cycle has a panel of judges, and I hope we all keep getting better.

My only critique is a sarcastic one: a backstory? you can't do that! you have to have all the characters! Anything interesting that doesn't invove the three guys is off limits! How in the world will the story move forward if you take a detour from the generic and obvious story everyone already has in their heads?

But seriously, if Thrown Together wins, I'll put my hangups aside and play next round. I have a freakin sweet idea to continue that one!

I still think that a blind vote tally should be incorporated in the next contest.

I don't like the panel idea. It would completely stall community growth, and this community needs wings if there's a possibility of future contests where marketing is not the deciding factor in who wins. I believe the solution now is to put proper security in place to keep people from cheating, or providing loopholes for unfair advantages.

A judged competition doesn't fit this contest format, IMHO.

I fixed the description for you. Sorry about that. It seems every now and again our system is eating any text that has an apostrophe in it when I cut and paste. It was there, just not showing up. I replaced the apostrophes, and all is well.

hot damn that's some fine filmmaking. i especially like the guy in the glasses. he looks like the type who can play guitar really well but took a break from music school to help his good buddy jay make a movie late at night in a lightning storm by being tied up for hours and having water thrown on him. and i like that in an actor

wow! 84 to 84. I haven't seen a contest this close since the democratic primaries! I will say that these are both good videos, but this one inspires more change than our opposing candidate candidate. This is change we can believe in!
